Academic Bio

I am a Mental Health Educator and Scholar of New Thought Ancient Wisdom. My teaching style explores New Thought Theology through the lends of Psychoeducation. My current research explores Trauma Informed Spiritual Practice. What that means is mental health and spiritual life are both important to me, and through the lenses of Psychology and Theology, I try to help others discover ways to find meaning, contentment, and spiritual sustainability in life.

I studied English Literature at the University of South Carolina, completed a Masters degree in the Behavioral Sciences from Keiser University, post graduate certification in Geropsychology and post grad training in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Grand Canyon University. I completed Post Graduate training in Rational Emotive Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Training, and additional training in Clinical Trauma Support with the Arizona Trauma Institute. I also completed Reiki Master Certification in the Usui Reiki System of Natural Healing with the Reiki Institute of Atlanta. I have taught at local colleges & spiritual centers in Atlanta, GA for over 10 years, and completed Theology training at UAIC Seminary with the Universal Anglican Interspiritual Church & UWSI Seminary at Unity Worldwide Ministries. In 2012 I was incardinated into the UAIC as an interspiritual priest & teacher. And in 2013, I received a DMin (professional Doctor of Ministry) from the UAIC seminary. In the Spring of 2015 I was inducted into Morehouse College’s Martin Luther King Jr. Collegium of Clergy & Scholars. I am the current Spiritual Leader of Unity of Birmingham, a progressive, inclusive, spiritual community in Birmingham Alabama affiliated with the Unity Movement’s Unity Worldwide Ministries. I also regularly attend the Mayor’s Faith Leader’s Roundtable.
